Oyster Infinity

The InoxFlow Oyster™ Infinity is a fully sanitary butterfly valve designed for handling powders and granules in applications requiring full vacuum compatibility. Its patented design significantly reduces seal wear compared with traditional butterfly valve designs, helping minimize maintenance requirements and extend service life.

Suitable for pharmaceutical, food, chemical, and other demanding process environments, the Oyster™ Infinity is designed according to cGMP standards with a hygienic construction that eliminates hard-to-clean recesses and simplifies cleaning and maintenance. The valve is WIP suitable and available with pneumatic or electric actuation, multiple sanitary connection options, and FDA-compliant seal materials.

How the Oyster Infinity works

The Oyster™ Infinity uses a rotating butterfly disc to open or close the material flow. Its patented sealing design maintains a reliable seal throughout operation while minimizing contact and wear on the seal, making it suitable for applications requiring full vacuum integrity.

machined, not cast

Difference you can measure

Cast valves are formed by pouring molten metal into a mold, leaving microscopic voids beneath the surface. InoxFlow valves are CNC-machined from solid bar stock, which means:

  • No internal porosity — nothing for product or bacteria to lodge in
  • Tighter tolerances for a more consistent, repeatable seal
  • Smoother internal surfaces for faster, more thorough clean-in-place cycles
  • Longer service life under repeated actuation and wash-down

FAQ | You ask, we answer

The Oyster VP Infinity is a fully sanitary butterfly valve for powders and granules, purpose-built for powder shut-off applications under full vacuum. It’s designed for the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries, and its patented design is fully vacuum compatible in both the open and closed position — a capability most sanitary butterfly valves don’t offer. All product contact parts are machined from AISI 316L with a mirror polish finish, meeting full pharmaceutical specification.

Unlike conventional sanitary valves, it holds full vacuum (down to -1.0 bar) in both open and closed positions, and its unique leaf-and-seal geometry gives excellent wear resistance, extending seal life and reducing the risk of product contamination from seal particles. Despite this strong sealing performance, opening and closing torque is lower than competing valves, which allows smaller, lighter actuators and lower air consumption. The valve body is also machined from solid rather than welded, eliminating the risk of ovalization or porosity and ensuring consistent long-term performance.

Very easy — it uses a patented Clamshell™ clamp design that lets the valve be stripped down and reassembled quickly with no special tools required. This tool-free maintenance makes it particularly well suited to clean room installations where fast, repeatable turnaround for cleaning and inspection is essential, and it fully conforms to cGMP design standards for hygienic processing equipment.

It’s available from DN50 (2″) up to DN300 (12″), with weights ranging from 2.5 kg to 17.8 kg. Connection options include Tri-Clamp (to ASME/BPE, BS4825-3, or DIN 32676 standards), butt weld ends, the Oyster bayonet docking system, and BFM flanges. Wetted parts (upper/lower body and leaf) are AISI 316L or C22, the Clamshell clamp is AISI 304, and seals are available in FDA-certified silicone, EPDM, or Kaflon FFKM to suit different process conditions.

Yes — when installed in a potentially explosive atmosphere, the valve is supplied and marked in accordance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, certified II 2GD cIIB T4/T135°C. It can be operated manually with a handlever (0-90° or 45-45° orientation, with lockable and multi-position stop options) or automated with double-acting or spring-return pneumatic rack-and-pinion actuators or an electric actuator, plus optional solenoid valves, position sensors, limit switches, and a 4-20 mA positioner for proportional control.
